Dear Member,
Martin Western's lecture last Tuesday once again was a fine example of the use of slides, coupled with an experts flow of information creating a most interesting talk. We were left in no doubt that Martin's lifetime passion is his devotion to the African elephant. One member said to me that he had seen several of the famous iconic images years ago and that they had stuck in his mind, and how nice it was to finally meet the author. I'm happy to concur his words.
It is with a sadness that I received a note from Adrian Northover this week offering his resignation from the club. The newer members may not have seen too much of Adrian just lately, however, in the past he was a hard working enthusiastic member and we will all miss his sense of humour. One of his reasons was that he would not want to take up a place within the club when his leaving would allow another member to join; that is typical of the sort of man Adrian is and I have wished him and Anne the very best for the future. I'm sure you will agree and support the sentiments.
Next weeks meeting is the 2nd round of the SPF league and it is likely to be a shorter than normal match because unfortunately Prism PS have pulled out of the league for this season, I believe they intend to compete fully next year.
So it looks as if we will have a battle with Guernsey PC. They are an excellent photographic club having many well qualified members and are bound to produce some good images.
This of couse means we will have to find a 'fill in programme' for the second part of the evening. I have the disc produced from the PDI entries to this years SPF exhibition. I know not many of you will have seen it yet, so it will give you an idea of how the other clubs within the SPF are doing and maybe some ideas for your own photography. Watch out for some of the 'creative' images!!
One more little request for Tuesday, John Walter will not be in attendance so if you can arrive a few minutes earlier and help set up, it will help, thanks!
My regards and keep snapping
Terry
