Chairman's Newsletter No. 19

Dear Member,
I hope you are not too upset if all of your images were not shown at Tuesdays assessment. With well over 100 images submitted we had to make a decision of where to make the cut off. As you may well be aware we attempt to keep the number of images to be assessed to around the 70 mark in order to allow the judge sufficient time to give each image their best critique.

Barbara Holder made an excellent job of sorting out the best points and gave some constructive remarks that we can all learn from.

Congratulations to all of you who scored well and in particular to George Marsh on his elevation to the advanced class in the digital section, a place we all know he belongs. Again I would like to thank Jill and Mark for the smooth operation we had on Tuesday. Jill had to make a choice on which images we allowed using her knowledge and the position held by each entrant as the main criteria. Now the question arises of how do we handle this sort of problem should it arise again. We have to ask you to nominate your choice of priority when entering both prints and PDIs. Would you please number your images in your preferred priority, there is still a maximum of 4 images in each section so if you prefer your prints to have priority then number them 1 - 4 and your PDIs 5 - 8 or vice versa. The internal competition secretary will still determine how many images will be shown while attempting to balance the two sections.

Next week, One question has been raised about next weeks pyramid competition, as it is a friendly your images will still be accepted into future assessments/competitions. So please bring along any mounted (preferred) prints for this fun evening. There is a surprise for the two last prints left standing.

Reminder. Bring some finger food for the social last hour; not too many sausage rolls eh!

Hope to see you all on Tuesday

Lovely frosty/foggy weather forecast for this weekend, happy snapping
Regards
Terry
